I am so excited for summer as are the kids. Just as I am sure you are, I am always on the lookout for fab patterns for summer and the Vintage Grace is it!
The Vintage Grace has a gorgeous scoop back and a long bodice. It is great for appliqué, embroidery, or embellishments. I chose to embellish the front of the bodice with two layers of fabric, lace and ric-rac. This is not included in the pattern but I don’t have any sort of embroidery machine to use (YET) that would dress it up so I thought who can go wrong with lace and accent fabrics.
OH! Did I tell you Melissa the designer and Bella Sunshine is one of my designer besties! Us girls gotta stick together. To shout out to her skills, her drafting is spot on, her patterns are beautiful and range from fun beginner to classic and challenging. You really can’t go wrong with her patterns.
Okay back to the pattern… It includes layers for easy printing, cutting measurements as well as pattern pieces for the skirt options and has blending instructions with illustrations for the perfect fit. Not to mention how GORGEOUS these flutters are!
As you can see in my pictures I chose to color block my skirt by adding a band of contrasting fabric. I did so by cutting the pattern piece on the bottom to remove the bottom five inches. When cutting add the seam allowance and add some trim as desired. I used the same lace as the bodice and flutter sleeves and also tied in the ric-rac again as a border.
Like I said, this dress is great for summer. If you don’t have it, you should grab it! Its on sale for $5.95 right now!
Doomed to use emoticons for the rest of my life, I always manage to smile through the toughest moments. As you may have gathered, I am bound to live near the water in some way with our Navy life and being a lover of water, hence the name Seaside Notions!
