You have made it to day 2!
Today we are on to trims! I have three tops that I plan to make during the sew along. There are lots of trim types that will work and some simple pattern hacks that I plan to show you in the next few days! If you would like to use trims you can make your own ruffles, use bias, crochet edge bias, ric-rac, lace, ruffled lace, pom pom both small or large and lastly you can adorn the front with an appliqué or a large button or two! Be creative and have fun with it. Below are my fabrics, trims and buttons I plan to use.
A tip if you plan to hem your petals! If you would prefer your finished edge not show, its an easy change! You can easily sew a smaller hem by turning your hem up a 1/4″, and then press again a 1/4″. Alternatively, if you have a narrow hem foot. This is a great top to try it out on as well! If you are unfamiliar with your narrow hem foot and want to try it out. Test it out on some scrap fabric first. Here is a great video tutorial to follow.
A final note, if you haven’t made your own bias tape before, this is a great tutorial for the continuous bias method.
See you tomorrow for day 3!
