Today is the first day of our September sew-along and I am excited to see what everyone comes up with!
Today we are picking out our fabrics and washing them! We need to figure out the size to sew and get our pattern printed and blended if need be.
First lets figure out what our options are going to be! There is a plethora of choices. You can choose, flutter sleeves without trim or with trim, cap sleeves, or sleeveless. Then the petals! You can do bias petals, hemmed petals or trimmed petals. You also have to decide if you want to add lace to the neck or not. See the below animated graphic for an idea of options.
Figuring out your size!
The next step is to measure the chest. Remember to keep the measuring tape level and measure at the widest point. This will determine the size you need to sew for the chest. Then measure from their shoulder down to where you would like it to fall. It is intended to be to the hips in the front and almost to the bottom of the rear in the back. Here are some examples.
Be sure to compare the overall height and finished measurements for the front and the back to compare that you are getting the length you desire.
To blend sizes, refer to the blending instructions on page 7 of the PDF. If you have questions, feel free to post them in the group! We are all here to help 🙂
Get that fabric washed and come show us what you picked if you haven’t already! See you tomorrow for Day 2.
