I love it when I get the opportunity to test for a designer I don’t know very well. It’s a chance to network, get to know them and have a little fun in the process. The designer for sofilantjes, Anne is wonderful! She is humble, friendly and great to work with which to me adds so much to a pattern that can’t be designed or bought. Not to mention the customer service you get.
As for the pattern itself, the techniques are high quality and the result is beautiful. The size range goes from 12 months to 12 years!
We had fun with ours and went super hero! I love the flat front panel, especially on my 2 year old. She usually dips everything into her food and with the top she didn’t at all.
The dress has 4 options: no bow or sash, bow only, sash only or bow and sash. I did one bow and one sash. My 2 year old has the top with a cute bow on it and my oldest got a dress with sash only. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. There wasn’t a lot of fluff which I prefer.
I recommend an intermediate level for this pattern due to the curves of the panel, the under stitching and use of buttons if snaps are not used. I also think because all the seams are hidden on this dress that it would benefit from a blind hem if you are familiar with that technique.
As for the fit, it is fantastic! A well fitted bodice, the curves were perfect for my girls. It’s not a flat square like we so often seen but instead a well drafted garment with a different shape in the front than the back all to improve the fit and make it perfect.
This pattern is NOT for a developed girl due to its fitted nature and flat front but the Anne is very clear about that.
I wholeheartedly recommend this pattern to anyone that would like something different and fun. It can be easily dressed up or dressed down with your choice of fabric.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 🙂
